Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?

There isn't a simple answer to this question. It depends on what you want to achieve, as well as much time and money you want to commit to counselling. It is sometimes possible to make real progress in just a few months, while some clients continue in counselling for several years. We'll talk about this in our first session, and then regularly during our time together so that we balance the time and money you put in with the value you're getting from the work.

How long are sessions?

My counselling sessions are 50 minutes. Over the years, counsellors have found this ideal to provide enough time for in-depth work, while reducing the exhaustion that can result from intense introspection over a longer time.

Can I contact you to get more information before booking?

You're welcome to email me, but you may find it more useful to just book in for a free initial conversation, which will give you a better idea of what it might be like to work with me as your counsellor. If you are already sure you would like to work with me, please fill in my online assessment form.

How should I prepare to get the most out of my session?

If you can, find a comfortable, private spot where you can switch off from any distractions and are unlikely to be disturbed. Try to make time before the session to settle your mind and gather your thoughts. You may want to revisit any notes you made after our previous session and think about what's happened since then. You may also want to put aside some time after the session to reflect.
